THE MUMMY . . . HAS VERTIGO??

In SILVER SCREEN CLASSICS’ blogathon, participants are asked:

“In 150 – 200 words, what was the first classic horror film that you can remember seeing?”

With MY journey in classic films starting 60 years ago, I can barely remember my first time for ANYthing. What I can say is that in my recent sojourns with horror movies, my sympathy has come to lie with ‘The Monster.’ Lord knows in these troubling times, I wouldn’t give a hill of beans or a plug nickel for human beings.

Cute song, right? But listen…lets get serious about kissing, shall we? See, you have never been kissed until you’ve been kissed by a Spiderwoman … a black widow … a lethal lady. Its intensity is like no other. 0r if Cary Grant took you in his arms, or Ricardo Cortez roughly shook you up, down to your toes as Steve Cochran would. A kiss could be sweetly elegant like Ronald Colman or hot and steamy like being kissed by Jean Peters. You would be like a moth to the flame, going willingly. Happily. Fatally.

ONE OF THESE THINGS IS SORT OF LIKE THE OTHER: “NIGHT SONG” and “VERTIGO”

Do you know the movie: “NIGHT SONG”? You ought to check it out…it’s a very good romantic drama featuring Dana Andrews and Merle Oberon. He’s a blind pianist whom Merle Oberon falls in love with. In order to win him over, she pretends to be blind as well. Our two leads are very good. Dana is an angry blind guy and Merle is in love with him. A match made in movie heaven.

This time I wasn’t in Hollywood…at a film festival…with like-minded classic film fans. This time I wasn’t at the magnificent Graumann’s Chinese…with the star of the film introducing the movie; ( btw, a star I had met.  A-hem! ) Nope, this time I was here in New York City.
