Man Wanted ( 1932 )

FERNANDO’s CORNER:  Posted on December 23rd, 2015

I revisited “Man Wanted” ( 1932 ), another very good Pre-Coder about the editor ( Kay Francis ) of a very relevant magazine who has quite the “laissez-faire” marriage with her playboy husband ( Kenneth Thomson ) and who can’t understand his wife’s passion for hard work.

David Manners plays a man whom she hires as a Private Secretary ( Manners died this date, December 23, 1998 ). The rapport between Kay Francis and David Manners is good and of special note are Una Merkel’s performance as dizzy and classless ( nouveau riche ) gal and Andy Devine as Manner’s playful pal. Claire Dodd (who plays Thomson’s girlfriend) is more beautiful than words can say. Another winner.
