FERNANDO’s CORNER ~ Posted April 1tth, 2016
I watched “BEHIND THE MAKE-UP” (1930), a Paramount drama starring stage and burlesque star Hal Skelly, William Powell and Fay Wray. Skelly plays a vaudeville performer and Fay plays a girl who works at bar-restaurant and befriends him.
Bill Powell impersonates an out-of-luck Italian actor who ends up teaming with Skelly in an act. Kay Francis plays an actress; an alluring vamp. Paul Lukas has a very minor role as one of Francis’ conquests. I won’t give away anything else. The film is very interesting to watch, especially due to William Powell’s acting.
