You all who know me, know I love movies. Specifically, I love classic movies. And I ain’t gonna lie to you, hearing this sad news hurts. For real. No, no he wasn’t the first, but he was the one that stuck, in a big box office…crossover / broad spectrum kind of a way. The reason…because he was a fine actor .
I’ve seen him in person, near his end at the TCM Film Festival. I met him and got his autograph back in 1973…at Kennedy Airport no less. He was an actor whose movies I saw during their original release in the 1960’s. He played characters with integrity and dignity.
He was never less than. He had class. He stood tall. Tall, dark and handsome. He was one of the giants. He was a Movie Star.
Yeah, this one hurts…like Hell.

I had the opportunity to do some free-lace writing for TCM’s Tumblr site where I wrote about Poitier. If you have time, please check it out.

A wonderful tribute. ❤️
He was a giant, who lifted us up so we could see the beauty of a world of colors. A lovely, classy man, who was so much better than most.
