CLASSIC SYMBIOTIC COLLABORATIONS: The Star-Director Blogathon

BREAK OUT THE BUBBLY…or Bourbon or Glühwein or Sarsparilla even. Whatever gets you through the night. I am hosting my FIRSTEVER blogathon, and I’m drunk with happiness.

WINE CELEBRATIONHere is the “CLASSIC SYMBIOTIC COLLABORATIONS: The Star -Director Blogathon” making its debut this cold winter’s day, with  a warm and overwhelming response from the blogging community. I sincerely want to thank all of you who took the time and decided to help me launch my inaugural event with your posts. The Star – Director collaboration is the backbone of film-making. Most times it’s the studios that bring these two entities together. But I like to think that trust, mutual admiration and respect  help make these pairings a fruitful one, and one that is remembered and treasured. Everyone has their favorite teams whose works resonate with them.

This two-day event has writers covering either:

  • an overview of the collaborative efforts of a Star and Director or
  • specific films from one of the great classic collaborative teams

Writers, thanks again for your time and contributions!

SYMBIOTIC COLLABORATIONS ( Foursome )

Readers ( and writers ) sit back, relax and take a gander at the roster of contributions below. Click on the bloggers’ banners [ which includes my introductions to their posts ] to get you right to the heart of the matter. I am absolutely looking forward to reading each and every one of these. Hope you will too.

And please, check back here on Monday ~ January 25th to see the complete alphabetized roster of participants. #CLASSICSYMBIOTICCOLLABORATIONS will be where you can find us on Twitter. If I were you…I’d bookmark this blogathon as a reference point. Enjoy!

    • G’Morning Sarah. I had that drink last night. Several. ( Probably shouldn’t have had that last one. Whew! ) So here it is…the Star – Director Blogathon. I could get used to this Hosting Gig. It’s been fun behind-the-scenes putting this all together. Thank you so much for participating. Now…get some breakfast.

    • Thanks for the good weather wishes. If you saw what I see out of my Brooklyn window, well, you don’t wanna see. ( And Now I’m experiencing some Cable/Internet issues issues. DRAT! TODAY! ) But now I have some great essays to read for this Star – Director Blogathon that you’ve thrown your lariat in, and I’m happy to have you. Thanks again.

    • Time. Quite the trickster He is. Thanks for asking me about the weather. I’m safe, comfortable and cozy…but the weather ( yep…it’s a blizzard here in NYC ) is playing a little havoc with my cable / internet system. Today of all days. I’ll stay up as long as I can. Thank you for sending me your post for the Star – Director Blogathon. I just saw Audrey Hepburn in “Love in the Afternoon” and my opinion of her ( I’ve always liked her ) rose tremendously. She’s the rare breed who can really act with her eyes. Thanks again for joining Lindsey.

      • Her performance in ‘Love in the Afternoon’ is wonderful! Glad to hear you liked it! A lot of people find her overrated simply because she is such a big, enduring name among the general public but she was a truly gifted actress.

And glad to hear you’re handling the weather okay, too. I live in Michigan and it seems as though we’ve pushed our usual winter weather on everyone else, haha.

      • You know you’re right Lindsey, about the public being mad because she’s the one name they know from the classic era. But she surprised me very much with Coop. Yeah…maybe I was one of those people myself.

Oh…and thank you for the weather Michigander. I’ve got to think of some kind of way to pay you back. 😉

    • Andrew, I had to wrack my brain to come up with this topic. There’ve been so many cool blogathons. I’m happy you decided to participate in the Star – Director Blogathon. I’m a Myrna Loy fan…okay okay…and that black & white dress she wears is to die for. Now I can read your entry and see why ELSE I should like this film. Here’s to Woody Van Dyke!! ( Thanks again. )

    • Hellooooo Virginie. You’re up in Canada right? How’s the weather up there…is this blizzard coming your way as well? We were really hit down here in NYC. All the better for me to stay put and read the contributions to the Star – Director Blogathon. These blogathons really DO help us discover new films when we read or write about them. Thank you so much for joining in this wild and crazy blogathon. And by the by…I’m considering your own future blogathon on “Golden Boy” WILLIAM HOLDEN. I’ve just got to figure out what film to cover. He’s a pretty popular actor and those good titles get swooped up fast. Thanks again! 🙂

    • L0L! My couch IS pretty comfortable. It’s 64-inches long ( you can change those to meters or centimeters if you want ) and very easy to fall asleep on a movie. I’m a ham…that’s why I’m in my own banner. 😉
