The response to my upcoming blogathon ~ slight name change ~ “CLASSIC SYMBIOTIC COLLABORATIONS: The Star-Director Blogathon” has been so warmly supported I’m rather speechless. ( Who am I kidding…I can talk ’till the cows come home. ) I want to say thank you again for all who’re participating. I seem to have struck the Mother Lode ( …duly recognizing my own blog’s “needle-in-the-haystack” existence in the sandbox of the blogosphere ) of talented bloggers out there.
I want to give you an easy-to-read roster of who has already signed up ( sans cluttery rules, guidelines and banners which you can find in my original announcement here. ) Alright, so I couldn’t resist posting the banners:
If you know any bloggers who might be interested in writing about their favorite star-director collaborations from the classic era, please send them to the comments section below or to that section on my original announcement ( here ).
I’m going to make DECEMBER 19th, the cut-off time for submissions so I can concentrate on creating a pleasant presentation for my ‘thon when the event is in full swing and sway. ( You know how it is…first impressions and all ). If there are any other bloggers out there who are interested in joining…I’d love to have you.
Thank you again!
~ CineMaven

Please check this directory for any updates. ( Listed alphabetically here. ) During the event, I will upload your posts as I receive them. Wait a second…am I the only blogger here with the hubris and audacity to put my own picture in my blog’s banner? I would say that’s character actress Theresa Harris sitting on my couch, but you guys are too smart for that wooden nickel to be pulled over your eyes:

Can’t wait to take part in this blogathon, and to read about so many great partnerships!
If it’s not too much trouble, could you change the image for my blog? I actually just updated my header to include my blog name; I know you had trouble identifying my blog haha, my fault!

Sure thing Keisha. Made that change for you. 🙂

Thanks for the email. It was a fantastic reminder that I have two books to read, 11 films to rewatch, five to watch for the first time, and the post to write…a deadline is always my best motivator

Haaaaaaaa! Dave! How’d you put all that on your plate. You’ll never get any turkey down. Listen. Just submit your post about Kurosawa – Mifune, and the rest of it will…uhhhh… all sort itself out. 😉

Thanks, I probably don’t NEED to do all that, but they do deserve my best effort

I’m excited to participate and read everyone’s submissions! Just to clarify, is December 19 the writing deadline or the “I want to be involved” deadline?

It’s the “I want to be involved” deadline Julia.

Theresa, what an awesome job you’ve done here! This looks great! You’re a lovely hostess. When do you want the content to be posted? I have the post completed, so I can go live whenever you say go. I’m so excited about reading these posts!

Hi there Tracey. You can send me the link whenever you wish. I can have it now, but my official blogathon won’t go live until Jan 23rd. Believe me, I’m dying to read yours and the rest of the bloggers’ posts. Have a great Thanksgiving! 🙂

As far as hubris and audacity, I could match you, but I don’t have the intelligence to figure HOW to put my picture in the header. But that is indeed the back of my head on the sidebar. So we can add peculiar sense of humor to the mix.

Really looking forward to this. I plan to participate, but I am having surgery in two weeks and we’ll see about recovery time. If my brain is fudge, then I may have to back out. Slim chance, but just wanted to let you know in case.

I remember hearing you say on your podcast that you’ll be having surgery. Here’s hoping you make the blogathon but moreso, wishing you a speedy recovery. All the best! 🙂

Since Otto Preminger directed both Gene Tierney and Dana Andrews the required 3 times, LAURA seems perfect for this blogathon. Surprised that no one has grabbed it. I’d like to make that my focus with some bonus coverage of their other collaborations. Thanks for the motivation!

HI DAN … WELCOME! Thanxx so much for joining my CLASSIC SYMBIOTIC COLLABORATIONS BLOGATHON. You know, looking down the list of bloggers and the topics they want to cover…you’re right; I don’t see Preminger represented. Well…it’s yours! And I look forward to reading your take on “LAURA.” I’ve added you to the list, as you can see. Tell me…WHO is the lady on the banner of your blog? I’m trying to place her face…but, my mind can’t stretch so far. Again…welcome aboard.

That’s great. Thank you! Victoria Shaw is the co-star of THE CRIMSON KIMONO. She made very few movies so it’s no wonder you didn’t recognize her.
BTW, it’s on demand at TCM until Dec. 15

Hi Leah … is there a star – director combo you like that have made three films together? Looking for a three-film minimum to really get that collaboration ball rolling. Let me know, okay?
